Course Description
This course intends to introduce students the fundamental theories and the necessary computer skills for designing characters and making cartoon animation using computer. It is the elementary course for students who interest in producing cartoon character animation. It covers the technical concerns, processes and vocabularies in animation production. Student will learn and experience by working on exercises using 2D animation authoring tools.

Character design is increasingly essential in many of the multimedia production. Audiences usually expect characters to conform to the same social rules they use even when they understand that those characters are synthetic. The objective of the course is to introduce students the theoretical and practical knowledge for designing characters for animations, games, advertising and educational software. It covers the essential design concerns, development processes and vocabularies in the field. Students will learn and experience by working on exercises using relevant design and authoring tools. A high quality animation highly relies on the key person - the animator to make it attractive, fun and humorous.
